Arrive on the Valensole plateau early, in golden morning light and before the crowds, when the lavender is at its most photogenic. Walk the purple rows, meet a family of lavender growers at their distillery shop, then continue to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, a cliffside village at the gates of the Verdon Gorge, for lunch and a stroll. Private Mercedes with driver and door-to-door pickup in Marseille or Aix-en-Provence. Available in lavender season only, from June to August, with peak bloom from mid-June to mid-July. The purple heart of Provence, at the perfect hour.
