Gordes, Roussillon(+ Ochre Trail) & Fontaine de Vaucluse
Operated by Provence Excursions
Overview
Open to solo travelers! A tour to take your time discovering 2 beautiful villages in the Luberon, including Gordes, which preserves the heritage of its agricultural and artisanal past (local market on Tuesdays). You’ll make a stop at the 12th-century Sénanque Abbey, a place of peace surrounded by lavender from June to July. Then you’ll go to Roussillon, the ochre village, and its old extraction site set up as a trail, which you can visit (entry included), and then stroll through the colorful village to enjoy a leisurely lunch break. Your day will end in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, where you’ll discover the gushing and refreshing waters of 'la Sorgue,' a fascinating and clear river, and you’ll learn about traditional handmade paper-making techniques as in the 15th century. Note: This tour requires a suitable fitness level for walking, including the ability to go up and down stairs.
