Overview
Nestled just north of Lyon, the Mâconnais region is the southern gateway to Burgundy, brimming with history, culture, and stunning landscapes. Known for its renowned vineyards, unique geology, and Romanesque art, this area is the true kingdom of Chardonnay. This itinerary offers the perfect chance to experience its beauty and wines. Starting from Lyon, we journey to Pierreclos Castle. Perched on a rocky outcrop amid vineyards, this medieval gem showcases its faithful 15th-century restoration. Wander through rooms filled with stories of knights, explore dungeons, and see historic kitchens. The tour ends with a wine tasting, featuring their acclaimed Pouilly-Fuissé and Pinot Noir. Continuing along the wine route, we’ll stop at the iconic Roche de Solutré, famous for its dramatic cliffs and President Mitterrand’s legendary climb.
